A Surprise in a Pot

26 June, 2020, 10:20am "JIA! DAD! MARCUS! There's a baby tortoise in our flower pot!!!", exclaimed mother.

At that instant, everyone dropped whatever they were doing, and rushed out to the garden upon hearing the screams of excitement from my mother.

This was the first photo of this little babe I took. What a mystery. How did this baby get into our pot?

It measured only 3.5cm... It was that small...

We thought it may be our RES's baby... but then again, it was kind of impossible for the egg to hatch in the flower pot (which was quite a height from the ground)

The only possible conclusion was that it was abandoned. Oh dear. Yet another abandonment case. :(

This little babe got our whole fam excited. We took a photo with all 4 of our RES together just to compare the size! Look at the drastic size difference! Wow!

Placed this little guy in its temporary home!

What did we name it?

Since it was found in an Avocado pot.... we named it Avocado! I did ask my instagram followers on whether 'Avo' or 'Cado' sounded nicer~ Till date, I am unable to make a firm decision on its name, so I decided to just go with Avocado! :) This way, I can call it either 'Avo' or 'Cado' whenever I feel like it hehe!

That's it for Avocado's intro story! I'll be writing another blogpost on Avocado's upgraded home as well as Avo's vet visit and the tips I got on how to care for it!
